It boggles the mind the way the hokey fundamentalists hicks go on and on about how this has been promised to Israel
FOREVER, that has been promised to Israel
FOREVER, and therefore it is the responsibility of the Christians in the USA to take steps to insure that such promises to Israel come true. A sane person's first reaction is, if these things have been promised to Israel by Almighty God, then why do the Christians of the USA need to get involved in insuring that these promises are fulfilled?
The hokey hicks pretend that they know the Bible better than the rest of us, but they behave as if they had never read Strong's concordance or any of the great modern computerized scripture databases such as e-sword. They do a damnable dis-service and manifest their characteristic shallow out-of context approach to scripture when they drone on and on about how the Christians of the USA are obligated to get involved to insure that the white Talmudist Palestinianswho call themselves Jews/Israel, and who are
NOT descended from the Jews such as Christ's family and disciples, who are descended from those who
REJECTED Christianity, get special privileges in Palestine.
Even Jimmy Carter, the Peanut farmer from Georgia with the astronomical IQ (boy he can think fast!) who became President, has declared that he considers modern Israel to be a fulfillment of "Bible prophesy".
Eli was descended from Aaron. God had promised all kinds of things to Aaron and his descendants forever. However, Eli, a descendant of Aaaron, was overly tolerant of the misconduct of his two sons. Therefore a prophet was sent to Eli; this prophet told Eli, that yes, God had promised things to the descendants of Aaaron
FOREVER, but nevertheless, because Eli's sons had been misbehaving while Eli had been tolerant with them, God has now changed his mind, and
God's destructive wrath had come upon Eli and his sons (
http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/eli.htm ).
Next thing you know, Eli and his sons were dead. The scriptures in 1 Samuel make it clear that, in context, when God promises things to people and their descendants "
forever", what is taken for granted and left unsaid, is that these promises are conditional and will not be fulfilled if their is serious enough misconduct on the part of those to whom things have been promised.
It all reminds you of some vision I read about on the internet, in which Christ told some "saint"-type, to teach the people that scriptures have to be interpreted IN CONTEXT.
The story of God stripping a descendant of Aaron of what had been promised to Aaron "forever":
1Sa 2:27 And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house? 1Sa 2:28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel? 1Sa 2:29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honorest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people? 1Sa 2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith,
I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me forever:
but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. 1Sa 2:31 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house. 1Sa 2:32 And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house forever. 1Sa 2:33 And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age. 1Sa 2:34 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them. 1Sa 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed forever. 1Sa 2:36 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
